This new system manufactured by Sony is set to be released October 1st 2009 in north America and Europe and Nov first in Japan. This is the new system in the PSP line manufactured by Sony but is not intended to replace the PSP-3000 which Sony will continue to support and sell.
While this is basically a PSP it is kind of different to the other PSPs. The PSP GO is noticeably different it is 56% smaller and 41% lighter making it the ideal hand held gaming system busy. One significant difference of the PSP Go is that it doesn’t contain a UMD drive, instead it contains a 16GB internal flash memory to store media, videos and games. Due to the fact the PSP GO does not have a UMD drive the user will have to download games from the Sony store on the internet.
The PSP GO also has an inbuilt Wifi making internet connectivity excellent for those travelling. The over all look of the PSP GO is quite different as the screen slides up to reveal the controls so it gives it a bit more compact look. Also the PSP GO’s rechargeable battery is not removable or replaceable by the user.
The Negatives of the PSP GO
As for negatives it is actually early to determine if there are any internal software negatives of the PSP GO. Also as far as negatives go it’s more of a preference. Some might find the limited means of reaching games to be a negative. The only way to get games is online at the Sony store. This significantly disposes of purchasing games from different sources at a maybe less dear price . The incontrovertible fact that there is not any UMD drive may be a negative to some as the 16 GB can only hold so much media, videos and games. As for the battery not being removable or replaceable may be an annoyance to some as if you require the battery to be replaced or fixed it’ll take sending it back to the construction.
The Positives of the PSP GO
This is a great fresh product from Sony in the PSP line. It’s lighter, and smaller and the slide up screen gives it that additional sleek look. With the built in wifi, and 16GB flash memory it is a great hand held gaming console that offers the sleek look and the convince of being able to download and store your games immediately on your PSP GO right from the Sony online store. Some will like the undeniable fact that this PSP doesn’t have a UMD drive this makes it more transportable. The online Sony store is the one place where one can download games of the PSP GO this is a great thing for those that desire quality games. This ensures that you are getting Sony’s quality games that are fit and intended for your PSP GO
As with any electronic there are positives and negatives yet either are way more a matter of opinion then fact. If you like a lighter, sleeker and more convenient console then the PSP GO is for you. This is a more recent sleeker and different all around from it’s PSP -3000 brother. Making this a must see town.
